LaunchPad Fellows Visit A+E Networks: Inside the World of Television in NYC

LaunchPad Team Members, A&E Employees with LaunchPad Fellows

Last week, LaunchPad Fellows in New York City had the exciting opportunity to visit A+E Networks for an exclusive behind-the-scenes site visit, an experience that offered both an inside look at the company’s iconic headquarters and an invaluable conversation with industry leaders shaping the future of unscripted television.

Held at A+E Networks’ New York flagship office, the visit gave Fellows a chance to explore the building, soak in the creative atmosphere, and gain a deeper understanding of how one of the most influential entertainment companies in the world operates day-to-day.

A Look Inside A+E Networks

From the moment Fellows arrived, the visit set the tone for what it means to work inside a fast-paced, collaborative media environment. As the group toured the space, they got a firsthand glimpse into the culture behind A+E’s powerhouse brands, where storytelling, innovation, and strategy intersect.

For many Fellows, the experience was especially impactful because it transformed A+E from a well-known name into a real working ecosystem…. one filled with teams, departments, and creative professionals all contributing to the development of major factual and unscripted programming.

Industry Insight Through a Powerful Q&A

Following the tour, Fellows participated in an engaging and informative Q&A session featuring three standout leaders from across A+E’s divisions:

  • Allie Breslin, VP of Development, A+E Factual Studios

  • Danielle Santos, Supervising Producer, A&E Programming

  • Kristin Miloro, Director, Ad Sales Partnerships

Together, the panel offered a well-rounded perspective on what it takes to build and sustain successful television content in today’s rapidly evolving entertainment landscape.

Development, Programming, and the Reality of the Industry

Allie Breslin provided valuable insight into the development side of factual and unscripted television, breaking down how ideas become pitches, how pitches become projects, and what executives look for when deciding which concepts to pursue. Fellows were able to ask questions about what makes a project stand out, how creators can position themselves in the industry, and what trends are shaping the future of factual storytelling.

Danielle Santos offered a practical look into the programming process, sharing how shows move from concept to execution and what it means to oversee production at a high level. Her perspective gave Fellows a clear understanding of the responsibilities behind managing creative direction, balancing logistics, and ensuring content aligns with a network’s brand and audience expectations.

The Business Side of Storytelling

Adding an essential business perspective, Kristin Miloro discussed the role of ad sales partnerships and how networks collaborate with brands in a way that supports programming while maintaining authenticity. Fellows gained a deeper appreciation for how storytelling and business work hand-in-hand and how strategic partnerships help bring content to life.

Her insight helped demystify an area of the entertainment industry that many emerging creatives don’t always see up close, reinforcing the importance of understanding the full ecosystem behind media production.

A Valuable Experience for Emerging Creatives

The A+E Networks site visit was a powerful reminder that success in entertainment requires both creative ambition and industry knowledge. For LaunchPad Fellows, the day served as an inspiring opportunity to learn directly from professionals who are actively shaping the landscape of unscripted television.

More than just a tour, the visit offered something rare: access, transparency, and real-world insight from leaders who understand what it takes to thrive in this space.

LaunchPad Fellows left A+E Networks not only with a deeper understanding of the company—but with renewed motivation and a clearer view of how many paths exist within the entertainment industry.

Thank You to A+E Networks

LaunchPad would like to extend a sincere thank you to Allie Breslin, Danielle Santos, and Kristin Miloro for taking the time to share their experience and wisdom with our Fellows, and to the A+E Networks team for welcoming us into their space.

This visit was a meaningful step in our Fellows’ journeys and a reminder that learning directly from industry professionals can be one of the most valuable experiences of all.
